vision & Mission
To see wanderers become followers.
(Lev. 19:33-34, Matt. 4:19, Eph. 2:13)
To share the light and hope of the Gospel by cultivating a community that follows Jesus.
(Matt. 28:19-20, 2 Cor. 5:19-20, 1 Peter 2:10-12, 1 Peter 3:15)
Everything we do is centered around the person and work of Jesus Christ.
The Father in history culminates in Christ. The Father created the world through Christ. The father has sent Christ into the world to reveal his character and rescue a people for Himself. The Holy Spirit unites us to Christ, teaches us the things of Christ, and helps us love and follow Christ. Jesus the Christ is our Shepard, Master, Leader, Healer, Savior, Friend, and King.
Just as Jesus was sent into a place and culture that was not his ultimate home so have we as Christians been sent into the world to live as temporary residents and ambassadors for the Kingdom.
“Culture” is just a word that describes the expressions and values of people. Jesus engaged the culture he was sent into so much so that he took on human flesh. We want to engage our culture in the same way by being authentic, relevant and caring about what our culture cares about rather than isolating ourselves in a Christian bubble. We are sent into the world and therefore we will engage the culture of Floyd and help people discover how The Gospel is the ultimate fulfillment of all cultural ideas and values.
God calls his people to live in close knit community with one another sharing in the rhythms of life.
This means that the Church bears one another’s burdens, serves one another, challenges one another, and loves one another. Jesus said that the greatest witness that the Church can give to the world is how they love one another. We want to be a church that facilities honest, sacrificial and loving community. It is this togetherness that crosses racial, generational, and political boundaries that paints such a beautiful picture of the Gospel.
We want to be a people who not only look at Jesus as the Savior of our sins but also as our Friend and King who leads us on the path of righteousness.
The command of Christ can be summarized by the command, “Follow me.” We are called to imitate the way that Jesus spoke, felt, acted, sacrificed, and obeyed the Father. When we follow Jesus we are given abundant life. True freedom comes from servitude to Him.
Healthy followers of Jesus make more followers of Jesus and healthy churches plant more churches.
Essential to the call of Christ on our lives in the call to make disciples. Jesus did not call his church to make “converts” but rather to invest in the life-long and messy process of helping people to love and follow Him. We want our people to multiply themselves and invest in the lives of other people. The reason the Christian church has continued to flourish under so many different obstacles from generation to generation is because God has used his people to reach and mentor other people. We will focus less on programs and putting on a good show and focus more on equipping everyone to invest their lives in the next person. This is the great mission that we have been sent on and we will be a church that cares about evangelism, mentoring, missions and church planting.
