How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”
— Isaiah 52:7

Floyd County Young Life

Young Life doesn't start with a program. It starts with adults who are concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in their culture, building bridges of authentic friendship. These relationships don't happen overnight — they take time, patience, trust and consistency.

Young Life is committed to discipleship, and we know that church involvement is essential for following Christ throughout one’s lifetime. We’re not affiliated with a specific church or denomination; however, we promote active involvement in the local church among the kids who are growing in their faith.

Although congregations can minister in ways we can’t, Young Life has inroads in communities with kids who are disinterested in church. However, as Young Life staff and leaders care for these kids, we try to help them become lifelong followers of Jesus Christ who will one day be active in the life of a local church.

Why we partner: Young Life disciples young people in our community.

There are many ways to get involved whether a volunteer leader, adult committee member, or financial support. All are integral to the furthering of YoungLife’s mission.

We love Richmond and believe it is a beautiful city of neighborhoods; where people of many backgrounds live, work, play and discover meaning.  It is a city marked by the very fingerprint of God.  Yet, Richmond is also a broken city.  It is filled with struggling, confused, divided, and under-loved people looking for their true home and purpose.  We believe it is through local churches who are faithful to Jesus that people find home and purpose in him.

As a church, we envision, pray towards, and are slowly becoming a counter-cultural embassy of God's kingdom here in Richmond.  We envision a vibrant church family that embraces the good-news of Jesus and embodies it in all of life.  We envision a church that overcomes barriers of difference for the sake of God's glory being reflected through the unity of his people.  We envision a church that empowers people to join his work of restoration in every sphere of life.

Why we partner? We believe church planting is the most effective means for furthering the great commission, and South City Church was sent out of Sojourn Church.

The Bonhoeffer Haus

In 2012, a small group of pastors began to pray, dream, and plan for a way of training church planters and pastors with the model of the past; meaningful life together in local churches—churches unified through gospel identity and missional commitment. One year later, Jesse Furey transitioned from directing CRU at Radford University to gather our first cohort of apprentices and lead the Bonhoeffer Haus.

Presently, the Bonhoeffer Haus has two main cohorts, Roanoke and New River Valley. While our apprentices serve most directly under one pastor in a partner church, they also share life together with other apprentices and pastors within their cohort.  Each cohort has a director who leads the apprentices in regular study, prayer, training, and fellowship.  The Bonhoeffer Haus has trained and sent church planters to Floyd, Richmond, and Canmore, Alberta.  Our hope is to see more cohorts born out of those and future plants.

Why we partner? Sojourn and South City Church would not exist without the pastoral training and mentorship of the Bonhoeffer Haus.
