Discussion Questions:
What does it mean to live a life that is righteous, devout, and looking forward to God’s consolation? When have you seen these traits in another believer? Where do you have room to grow—and how can you stay faithful for a lifetime?
What is the evidence that Simeon trusted the Holy Spirit? How might that be harder to do the longer you live? What is the evidence that you are trusting the Holy Spirit in your own life?
What makes the truth of the Gospel—the truth of Jesus for us—amazing? Why does the way we believe, hold, and proclaim it matter? How does your own testimony of Christ reflect His “amazingness” in the world?

Discussion Questions:
How does the Good News of God’s salvation invite our submission? What are we supposed to do, when God calls us by His grace?
Why is a joy-filled believer (and a joy-filled church) significant in God’s kingdom? Describe the differences you have seen—in churches, and in individuals—regarding joyfulness and joylessness? How does joy communicate the Gospel?
What did Zechariah learn—and sing—about salvation? (See vv. 68-79.) How does his ministry, and how does the ministry of his son John, inform our own calling to tell others?
