“FOES & FRIENDS”
Sunday, August 10th, 2025 | Tyler Daniels
Discussion Questions:
What makes us uncomfortable about this kind of prayer? When David prays against his “opponents,” which opponents in your own life come to mind? Have you been praying for them—and how have you been praying for them?
Why is a “sowing and reaping” prayer a good prayer for an opponent? Why is it healthy to hope that they will find the bitter end of their sin? How would this Psalm lead you to live, even as you pray those prayers?
In a world full of opponents, how can you tell who is truly a friend? Why should you expect to find those friends in the church? When has this been true in your own life?
“CRAZY GOOD”

Discussion Questions:
How can someone “taste and see that the LORD is good” (v. 8)? How has your experience of God’s goodness shaped your testimony? How would you invite someone else to know Him this way?
What things belong on a “good life” to-do list? How does Ps. 34:11-14 fill out the list? Which of these things should be added to your own life’s list?
How does the historical context for this Psalm help us understand David’s prayer? (See 1 Sam. 21:10-15.) When have the in-over-your-head circumstances of your life driven you to pray—and to worship? What about your faith might look crazy to the wider world?
“PRACTICE, PRAISE, AND PATIENCE”
Sunday, July 27th, 2025 | Tyler Daniels
Discussion Questions:
Consider your openness to “new” in worship. Where is there evidence of it? Where do you have room to grow? How might a “renewed” consideration of the Gospel help us grow in worship?
Which “why” for worship (the truth of God’s Word, the awesomeness of His authority, the goodness of His rescue) inspires your worship? What songs, Scriptures, or practices magnify these truths—in the church, and in your devotional life?
Think about the Psalm’s invitation to wait: Why is waiting a good thing for the believer? What are some additional ways we can understand “waiting for the Lord”? What should we be doing during these “waiting” days?
“THE MOST JOY”
Sunday, July 20th, 2025 | Tyler Daniels
Discussion Questions:
What is the difference between happiness and joy? What makes the Gospel a joyful reality? How has your experience of it proven joyful?
Why do you think the Psalmist was led to put the pauses (Selah) around vv. 3-4 and v. 5? Why should we meditate on these verses? How do these verses remind you of your testimony?
What is the purpose of the animal illustration in vv. 8-9? Where is there evidence of willing obedience—in repentance, in worship, and in service—in your life? Where is there evidence of willful independence?
“THE GOSPEL OF SECURITY”
Sunday, July 13th, 2025 | Tyler Daniels
Discussion Questions:
What things in your life are insecuring? What things in your heart leave you feeling ashamed? Which prayers in Psalm 31 lead you through them? What other promises in Scripture help you?
When have you had to trust God in the face of trouble? Give a testimony of when the times of your life have been in His hand (see v. 15).
How does the promise of security strengthen the Good News of the Gospel? How might our proclamation of Jesus testify to the promise of security—in this life, and everlastingly?
“SAVED, SO THAT…”
Sunday, July 6th, 2025 | Tyler Daniels
Discussion Questions:
What does it mean to exalt God, in worship? How do we do it, as individual believers and as the church? What is the “why” for our worship? (Consider the phrase, “…because you have lifted me up,” v. 1.)
Why do we have joy in the morning? What is your rejoicing testimony? How does the story of your own dark night magnify the goodness of God?
Revisit the “so that” of vv. 11-12. Where, in your life, is there evidence of worship and of testimony? How can you grow in this?
